James and Ruth Nemec
Give Stetson A Gift From the Heart
Stetson president H. Douglas Lee officially named the law school's lecture hall
and adjoining offices the James and Ruth
Nemec Auditorium and the James and
Ruth Nemec Office Complex. The naming
of the college's largest classroom pays
tribute to two Stetson alumni. James
and Ruth Nemec recently established a
$500,000 trust for the law school, to use
at the school's discretion.
"Wethinkyouareworthit" Mrs. Nemec
said. "You have proven already what your
future will be if people who can help want
to help."
The large lecture hall, which seats approximately 450, will receive extensive

Jacob. The office complex includes faculty
and staff offices and houses the law
school's Center for Labor and Management Dispute Resolution.
Mr. Nemec came to Stetson from Chicago in 1930 on a football scholarship. He
earned a degree in business administration and in 1936 graduated from the College of Law. He held office on the Palm
Beach County Bar Association and served
as a member of several committees of
the Florida State Bar Association, of the
Negligence and Compensation Lawyers
Association of Florida, and of Florida Trial
Lawyers Association and Lawyers Title
Guaranty Fund.
Ruth Bartlett Nemec graduated from
Stetson in 1938. She completed graduate
work at Columbia University. She has
written several historical plays and more
than one hundred songs.
"The gift we made was from our heart"
Mr. Nemec said at a luncheon in their
honor. "Stetson is a great university—
small as it is, but big in stature."
