SCHOOL STARTS WITH
EARLY CALENDAR AND
NEW FACULTY
Stetson College of Law will begin
its 78th year of operation with a new
academic calendar and the addition
of three new faces and the return of
one familiar one to the faculty. Fall
semester begins on August 20, with
registration and orientation, followed
by the start of classes on August 22.
Graduation will be on December 20,
leaving students free to enjoy the
Christmas vacation without the
specter of final examinations immediately upon their return to the
campus.
New full-time faculty members are
Robert Deeb Batey, Bong Ho Lee,
and Everett E. Cushman who retired
from Stetson in 1975 and will rejoin
the faculty for 1977-78. Judge Jonathan L. Alpert will be an adjunct
professor.
Robert Deeb Batey taught at West
Virginia University College of Law
Robert Deeb Batey
and was consultant to the West Virginia Magistrate Training Program
after receiving his B.A. from Yale,
J.D. from the University of Virginia,
and LL.M. from the University of
Illinois. An assistant professor, he
will teach criminal law courses and
Everett E. Cushman
serve as advisor to the Stetson
Intramural Law Review.
Everett E. Cushman received his
B.A. from Bates College where he
was Phi Beta Kappa, his M.A. from
the University of Miami in Florida
and his J.D. from Stetson. Before
his retirement, in addition to teaching, he was also director of placement and continuing legal education
and editor of the Stetson Lawyer.
Cushman is a member of The Florida
Bar and will teach real property
courses this year at Stetson.
Bong Ho Lee
Bong Ho Lee, visiting professor for
1977-78 from Emory University Law
School, has been professor and dean
of Seiji College in Tokyo, editor-in-
chief of the Kyodo News Press and
president of Kokusai (International)
News Press in Japan. His legal education includes degrees from Ritsu-
meikan University in Kyoto, Japan,
LL.B.; Waseda University, LL.M.;
Dip. in Law, University of Tokyo;
LL.M., Harvard University Law
School; Ph.D., University of London;
D.Phil., Oxford University. At Stetson, Professor Lee will teach Juris-

prudence, Torts and Comparative
Law.
Adjunct Professor Jonathan L.
Alpert became Judge of Industrial
Claims on May 1, and will teach
Workmen's Compensation. A member of the Florida and Maryland
Bars, he was in private law practice
in Miami for seven years before his
appointment to the bench by Governor Askew. He received his LL.M.
from Harvard, and his J.D. from the
University of Maryland School of
Law where he was associate editor
of the Maryland Law Review. Judge
Alpert attended Stetson University
and received his B.A. from John
Hopkins University.
