EVENING OF HONORS" BIG HOMECOMING EVENT
Daytime Schedule One
Of Fun and Business
Stetson lawyers and their wives will
"come home" to the law college campus
in St. Petersburg, Saturday, December 4
to observe the annual "Stetson Law
Day." George Phillips, '56, chairman of
the program, has arranged for a day
featuring fun and food, interspersed
with a little serious business.
Consciously the program has not been
"jammed" with formally scheduled events
so that there will be ample time for renewing old friendships and making note
of changes and developments over the
years, whether it be in hairlines or waistlines of individuals or in the altered appearance of the campus complex.
Business Meeting
Gardner Beckett, '57, President of the
Association, urges alumni to make a special effort to attend the business meeting for at that time officers will be
elected for the ensuing year to carry on
the many programs inaugurated in 1964-
1965.
The date for homecomings permits
alumni attending the Real Property Practice institute the day before to enjoy a
"business vacation."
"THE ST. PETERSBURG COMMITTEE": Left to Right (clockwise) — Howard Ross, '64, Attorney;
Mrs. Millie Moyer, Director, Volunteer Services, Fine Arts Museum; Donald Baldwin, Executive Editor,
St. Petersburg Times; Gardner Beckett, '57, President, Stetson Lawyers Association; Mrs. Durand
Tucker, Women's Representative; Carroll Runyon, Secretary, Law Center Foundation; Jim Shoemaker, Public Relations, Florida Power; Pepper Bennett, President, St. Petersburg Bar; William
Blews, President, Stetson Student Bar Association; Robert Sanford, Regional Manager, Morrison's
Cafeterias; and Russell Ver Planck, Ass't Manager, Bayfront Center. Absent is Chairman Al Hickok,
who unselfishly withdrew to help photographer balance himself on a chair.
FIVE ASSOCIATIONS JOIN TO HONOR DEAN AND
MRS. SEBRING AT BAYFRONT CENTER DINNER
The highlight of homecoming will, of course, be the "Evening of Honors" for Dean
and Mrs. Sebring to commemorate their tenth anniversary of service to Stetson and
the St. Petersburg community. Advance indications are that there will be a large and
enthusiastic turnout. All invitees who have not yet returned their reservation cards
should get in touch immediately with Gardner Beckett, 52 Sixth Street South, St.
Petersburg, to let him know that they .
Association, and The Law Center Foundation at St. Petersburg, Inc.
Beckett Is Chairman
General chairman of the program is
Gardner Beckett, '57, who wishes The
Stetson Lawyer to convey his appreciation for the help and cooperation of the
many people who have been working to
make the event a memorable one.
Special thanks are due the Lawyer-
ettes, an organization comprising wives
of Colllege of Law students, who performed the tremendous job of hand-
addressing and collating the more than
2000 invitations that were issued.
are planning to attend.
A United Tribute
It should be emphasized that "An Evening of Honors" is no purely alumni affair. The idea originated almost simultaneously in the minds of several prominent St. Petersburg citizens who recognize the prominent role the Dean and
Mrs. Sebring have played in changing
the cultural image of the city since they
came here in 1955. The "St. Petersburg
Committee" in whose name the invitations to the dinner were issued consists
of representatives from The Stetson Lawyers Association, The St. Petersburg Bar
Association, The Pinellas County Committee of 100, The Stetson Student Bar
<♦>-
The fellow who makes a mystery of the
law, either in practice, teaching or writing opinions from the bench, may not be
too clear about it himself.
—Dean Sebring
Every job I have ever held has been
more entrancing than the last. I have
never regretted any decision I made in
my life. That is my secret of happiness.
—Dean Sebring
