DR. CAMPBELL IS COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER
Doak Sheridan Campbell, president emeritus of Florida State University, will deliver
the commencement address at the College
of Law at noon May 30.
The ceremonies will be held in the
Auditorium of Stetson Inn with diplomas
being presented by Dr. J. Ollie Edmunds,
president of the University. Members of
the graduating class, the faculty, overseers
and trustees will be in the academic pro
cession. The public is invited.
Dr. Campbell, who holds an honorary
degree from Stetson, established an enviable
reputation during the 10 years he served
as president of Florida State University.
When he assumed the presidency in 1941,
the enrollment was 1,800 and the faculty
numbered less than 200. When he retired
June 30, 1957 the enrollment had exceeded

GOVERNOR SPEAKS
AT DEDICATION
OF LAW LIBRARY
Governor LeRoy Collins gave the convocation address at the formal dedication
March 8 of the Charles A. Dana Library
paying high tribute to the Stetson University
College of Law which was founded in De-
Land in 1901 and which has produced many
distinguished members of the bench, bar,
and legal education.
Guest at the convocation was Charles A.
Dana, the New York philanthropist, who
gave $250,000 for the new building on condition that it be matched dollar-for-dollar
by Florida men and women.
Justice E. Harris Drew, who was honorary
chairman of the Law Library Campaign
fund, presented the building. It was received
by Dr. Charles H. Bolton, president of the
Board of Trustees of the University.
Walter Mann, trustee of the Dana Foundation and president of the Hoard of Overseers of the College of Law, presented a portrait by Mr. Dana to hang in the library.
This was accepted by Justice H. L. Sebring,
dean of the college.
Dr. J. Ollie Edmunds awarded the hono-
tary degree of doctor of laws to Governor
Collins after he had been presented by
Former Governor Doyle Carlton.
In his address, Governor Collins called
for public support of the power of the
Supreme Court to interpret the Constitution
and challenged the bar on the matter of
lawyers who are gaining reputations as
"cunning manipulators" rather than seekers
