Late Library Rearing Completion
A dream that started several years ago in the minds
—and hearts—of a few men is nearing completion:
the new law library.
Mr. Charles A. Dana, New York industrialist and
philanthropist, joined in that dream and backed up
his vision with a quarter of a million dollars, which
was matched by loyal alumni and interested friends
who were caught in the enthusiasm of building one of
the outstanding legal centers in the United States.
Soon that vision will become an operating reality.
It is anticipated that the big move into the new building will be made during the Christmas holidays, so that
it will be ready for the students' use in January, 1958.
On the first floor will be housed the 30,000 volumes
which make up the Stetson Law Library and the
study tables for the students. On the second floor
(which handicapped students may reach by elevator)
there is a large classroom, which may be divided if
necessary by a folding door and turned into two smaller classrooms.

Report of The Dean
As the Stetson University College of Law begins
another academic year, I think we can look with pardonable pride upon the sound progress that has been
made and the exciting plans that are in store for the
future. At the present time, enrollment stands at
179 students, who have taken their undergraduate
work at 73 different universities and colleges located
in 27 states, Canada, Puerto Rico and Hawaii. Of
these, 57 live at Stetson Inn, which, combined with
the 11 faculty and staff members who 'live in', means
that the dormitories are overflowing.
Of course, there is the new air conditioned classroom. Our free institute program (found in the
Calendar, page 2) is one which will be a credit to the
school. Then, there is our wonderful new library
which you see pictured above and which will soon be
completed.
All in all, we think that what has been accomplished
by the College in the three short years it has been
located on its new campus at St. Petersburg is remarkable, and we extend a warm invitation to you to
come here as a member of the Stetson family, or as
one who is interested in its progress, for we believe
that what you would find here would meet with your
approval.
