October 10, 1816 (1 page). Letter from Thomas Hart Benton to Reynolds, then a Republican Congressman from Tennessee. The 'Mr. Scott' mentioned in the letter is John Scott, who presented credentials as a Delegate-elect to the Fourteenth Congress from the Territory of Missouri and served from August 6, 1816, to January 13, 1817.
