Description
Typewritten letter addressed to Dr. Lincoln Hulley, the second president of John B. Stetson University, October 5, 1909 with original signature, and evidence of blotted correction. Stationery marked with Idro / Ashbourne, P.A. In the letter, Elizabeth responds to a message that Dr. Hulley wrote to her son, John B. Stetson, Jr., describing newspaper attacks against Elizabeth and her new husband, the Count of Santa Eulalia. Elizabeth assures Dr. Hulley that she has no regrets in her second marriage, and that the attacks are baseless. The signature appears to have originally been signed 'S. Elizabeth Stetson', but was blotted out, and signed again as 'Elizabeth, Countess of Santa Eulalia.'
