Description
Oval medal with image of a statue of Pedro Menendez de Aviles of Spain on the front and 'Adelantado de la Florida Pedro Menendez de Aviles' on the back. Hanging from a small red and gold ribbon. Given to John B. Stetson, Jr., who was part of a U. S. delegation to Spain that was present as the remains of Spanish explorer Pedro Menendez, founder of St. Augustine, Florida, originally buried at Santander, Spain, were reinterred in his home town of Aviles in 1924. In original red square red box.
