Description
Snow scene, large bare black and white tree on left, black road or canal in center with band of pink on right edge, band of white (snow on far bank?) with edge in gray and black. Red building on right, irregular vertical rectangle with chimney on right, large irregular dark shadow, on window (vertical rectangle) on left side. Background behind building very deep, shiny black (appears to be painted in Tempera?) over light red (watercolor) background, small white mound to right of building (snow?). Background behind tree suggests foiage or cloud forms in thinner areas of black paint over red watercolor ground making different shades of very warm gray; thin red outline around most parts of tree comes in some places from background, in others appears painted over background. Brightest whites (in tree and snow mounds) are painted in shiny opaque white (Tempera?). Forms are curvilinear, organic, as in later works.
