My dear sir:
I was busy all last week in the State Fair work at Jack
sonville,and did not reach home till late last night. On my return
trip I stopped ofJ for a few hours at Winter Haven and had the pleasure
of meeting Miss Uures and reading your last kind letter to her concerning the plan of entering the University In the near future.
I certainly thank you for the interest you have taken in this matter and was very sorry to find that Miss Eures is delayed only for lack
of financial resources for car-fare and books. She is very anxious to
be independent and pay as she goes in all these efforts and I think she
is right, but I dislike very much to see her have to wait longer, and
a plan has occurred to me since I saw her that I think would meet with
your approval as well as hers. I will therefore of: er it as a sugt:e&
tion.feeling that it will do no harm even if it should do no good.
Let miss ?ures go to DeLand Immediately and,without taking any sort
of studies at the start,work right through the month of December,Lnelud
ing the Holidays,which she S3 ^s perfectly willing to do. This would
necessitate only the small sum necessary for car fare at present,which
would not be so difficult for her to get, and then by the first of January,when she would be ready bo begin her studies,the further sum needful for. her books will doubtless be within her reach.
