Dear sir:-
Your esteemed letter of Ugh,just received and I thank you
very much for its torje and contents. I had learned since my return
from Buffalo that it was very improbable that Mis;, Eures would be able
to avail herself of the liberal offer you made and I know what a sore
disappointment it would be to her if she should not get to go atall.
A coincidence in the case is that just before the mail came I had finished writing Miss Eures as follows, ill relation to this matter;-"If no
other way opens,why not offer to go immediately, or right after Christmas and let them give you as many months of the term as they can affofi/A
on the terms mentioned in their letter and then stop off on recitations
and give them the rest of your time along the same lines of work until
they are satisfied to call acc'ts square. " "I mean by this that,supposing you should not pay any money and they were willing to give you
such an opportunity -which I have no doubt they would- you might study
and work through January,February,March and April,on the terms they ofl
fered,and then give them your time entirely through May to pay the d life ranee betwe n what they allow you as a credit and the total am't of
tuition and expenses." ""Phis would certainly beat staying at home without any opportunities for good schooling .... and if you could enter
sooner they might give you a still batter chance."
