REMINDER-UNIVERSITY FACULTY MEETING-today Friday, January 22, noon, Rinker Auditorium. The agenda
includes an open discussion of University academic calendar issues for future years. A light lunch will be provided

REMINDER-SPRING THURMAN LECTURE SERIES. Congressman John Lewis is the first of four Thurman Lecturers
for the Spring Lecture Series. His lecture entitled "Walking with the Wind" is scheduled for Monday, January 25,
7:00 -9:00 p.m., in the Stetson Room, of-the Carlton Union J3uiJding.. Arts & Sciences cultural credit applies for
students. Please see the attached flyer for future speakers in the lecture series.
In connection with the visit of John Lewis, a faculty "brown bag" conversation/workshop has been scheduled for
noon - 1:30 p.m., January 25, in rooms 204/205 of the Carlton Union Building. Cookies and beverages will be

FACULTY LUNCHEON, LBC, 4TH FLOOR BOARD ROOM-Wednesday, January 27, noon -1:00 p.m. All Faculty
are invited to a luncheon hosted by the Director of the Center for Family Business, Greg McCann. The Roberson
Executive in Residence, and founding Director of Baylor University's Institute for Family Business, Dr. Nancy Upton,
will speak on opportunities related to Family Business for faculty with a focus given to scholarship. Please RSVP

Dr. William Haley, Chair of the Department of Gerontology at the University of South Florida, will be giving a
lecture titled, "The Stress of Family Caregiving in Alzheimer's Disease: Implications for Policy and Practice" on
Thursday, January 28, at 7:00 p.m. in the Rinker Auditorium in Davis Hall. Dr. Haley is a clinical psychologist who
has worked with Alzheimer's patients and family caregivers ■fbrtjver 15 years. He is currently conducting several
research projects funded by the National Institute on Aging that examine caregiver stress and interventions to help
caregivers cope with caregiving. Dr. Haley's presentation will give an overview of these projects and provide
practical suggestions for individuals who are either caregivers or health care professionals who work with
caregivers. The lecture is free and open to the public. Arts & Sciences cultural credit applies for students.

The Atlantis Project: A New Vision of the University. Paul Piehler, Professor of English at McGill University
(Canada), will be discussing the Atlantis Project, an innovative educational program which has been exploring ways
of introducing a tutorial approach to classes and universities in North America. Professor Piehler's first exposure
to this type of teaching model occurred as a student at Oxford, where his tutor/professor was C.S. Lewis. The
talk and discussion will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2:30 p.m. in Flagler 334. Material about the Atlantis
project can be accessed through the world wide web (http://www.mcgill/ca/atlantis/index.html). In addition, a
useful introductory description is available through Robert Boerth (ext. 7724, [email protected]). This event
is free and open to all members of the Stetson community. Arts & Sciences students will receive cultural credit.
