ANNOUNCEMENTS
INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION OFFICE. I am pleased to announce that the International Education Office will be
returning to the International House next fall. The present location on the first floor of Elizabeth Hall will return
to service as a classroom. I am delighted to report that Kandy Queen-Sutherland will assume the position of
Director of International Education (maintaining offices both in Allen Hall and the International House) and that
David Dysart will serve as Coordinator of Study Abroad Programs. Grace Lasorsa and Shannon Webber will
continue to provide their excellent service as we return to the International House location. Gene Lubot, Provost
Live in Peabody Auditorium, today Friday March 22, 7:30 p.m.-The combined forces of the Stetson Music School
will gather in Peabody Auditorium tonight to present the second annual Stetson University Music School Gala. You
will hear the Concert Choir, the Symphonic Wind ensemble, the University Orchestra, the Jazz Ensemble, the
Chamber Orchestra, a percussion ensemble, a saxophone quartet, a guitar duo, a student composition, the
Children's Choir, the Choral Union, an eight-cello ensemble, a pianist, two brass ensembles, a steel drum band,
the singing Phi Mu Alphas, and Miss Florida, Kristin Ludeke. singing with the University Orchestra.
Live in Elizabeth Hall, March 24, 3:00 p.m.-The Stetson Woodwind Ensemble includes several student groups:
A clarinet Choir, a flute choir, and two saxophone quartets. They will perform a wide variety of music from the
Baroque period to the 20th century. The Woodwind Chamber Music is organized by Dr. Lynn Cholka; the groups
are coached by flutist Ellen Hinkle, saxophonist Jim Bishop, and clarinetist Lynn Cholka.
Live in Elizabeth Hall, March 26, 7:30 p.m.--The inaugural concert of the Digital Art Ensemble, will take place
Tuesday evening. The DAE consists of MIDI instruments-cello, guitar, wind controller, keyboards, and percussion.
The performance will also include dance, featuring Helise Ford, Indonesian shadow play, and narration. They will
perform four works, three of which are by Stetson composers, Kari Juusela, who also directs the ensemble, and
Mark Reed. The DAE has been invited to perform in April at the Conference of the National Society of Electro-
Acoustic Music in Birmingham, Alabama. From: Jan Kindred
The Children's Literature Conference will be held today, Friday March 22, in the Stetson Room of the Carlton Union
Building. Award-winning Theodore Taylor will be the keynote speaker and Dr. M. Jean Greenlaw will be the
luncheon speaker. This conference is being presented by the Department of Teacher Education and the Department

Address on "Egypt and the Middle East Peace Process Today" by the Distinguished Ambassador Hermann F. Eilts,
former U.S. Ambassador to Egypt (1973-79) and to Saudi Arabia (1965-70). We are pleased to announce this
address by Ambassador Eilts to be held Monday, March 25, at 2:30 p.m., in the John E. Johns Lecture Hall (room
315E). Ambassador Eilts has recently returned from a several-weeks-long visit to the Middle East in February and
a speaking engagement in Japan on the Middle East Peace Process. Please announce to your students.
