Howard Thurman Program--EHA
HOWARD THURMAN PROGRAM-Elizabeth Hall Chapel. Thursday, April 4. 7:00 p.m. A program extending black
leader Howard Thurman's legacy is the theme for the inaugural ceremony on Thursday, April 4. The Reverend
Jefferson Rogers, who worked closely with both Howard Thurman and Martin Luther King, and represented the
Southern Christian Leadership Conference in negotiations with President Lyndon Johnson to create the Civil Rights
Bill, will be installed as the Director of the Howard Thurman Center. Three choirs will provide music: The Stetson
University Concert Choir, conducted by Duncan Couch; the Bethune-Cookman College Choir, conducted by
Rebecca Steele; and the Alumni Singers of St. Petersburg, conducted by Alvin J. Downing. A reception will follow
at the Holler Fountain immediately following the ceremony. Everyone is invited to attend.

Live in Elizabeth Hall. March 29, 7:30 p.m.-The Brass Ensemble, a student group coached by members of the
brass faculty, David Schmidt, trombone, James Ault. trumpet, and Dale Whitman, horn, will perform a wide variety
of music for a wide variety of different brass ensembles. The performing groups are a trombone ensemble, a tuba
quartet, a trumpet ensemble, a horn ensemble, and the large brass ensemble.
Live in Elizabeth Hall. March 30. 7:30 p.m.-Ellen Hinkle. flute, and Michael Rickman, piano, will play works by
Orlando composer Charles Callahan, CPE Bach, Carl Reinecke, and Camargo Guarnieri. Violinist Betsy Hinkle,
Ellen's daughter, will join Ellen and Michael for the trio sonata by CPE Bach. The Reinecke sonat loosely follows
the myth of the water sprite, Undine.
Live in Elizabeth Hall, April 2, 7:30 p.m.--The Stetson Chapter of the Collegiate Music Educators' National
Conference (CMENC) will present its annual and very popular Broadway Revue. The evening is entirely student
rehearsed and student performed. Some of you saw a sneak preview, "Say It With Gin" from the musical New
Yorkers, on the Stetson GALA. The revue will include songs from 16 musicals, including Grease. Carousel. South
Pacific. Showboat. Camelot. A Little Night Music. Les Miserables. Phantom of the Opera. Follies. Miss Saigon.
It's a money-maker for the CMENC, so bring your wallets ($5 general admission, $2 with Stetson ID).
