Live in Elizabeth Hall, February 11, 3:00 p.m.--On Sunday afternoon, oboist Ann Adams and pianist Karen
Aebischer will perform the music of Vivaldi, Bellini, and Strauss. Bassoonist Ashley Cooley and Aebischer on
harpsichord will play continuo in the Vivaldi. In music scores of baroque composers, continuo is the bass part
which is performed by the harpsichord or organ and a bass instrument such as the viola da gamba (precursor of
the cello) or bassoon. The Stetson Oboe Ensemble will join Adams for Beethoven's Trio for Two Oboes and English

A WORKSHOP ON THE VISION OF STETSON. All faculty are invited to a Vision Workshop scheduled by the
Faculty Senate on Monday, February 12, at 6:45 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge. This is an important opportunity for
faculty to make an impact on the development of Stetson's vision. Jackie Kersh will help facilitate the workshop.
Dinner is also available at 6:00 p.m., but faculty need to make a reservation with Jeff Horn at ext. 7578.

In support of Black History Month, Stetson University's Office of Multicultural Affairs and the African American
Student Association will be hosting a panel/round table discussion entitled "The Foundation of the Past is Laid...Will
the Pillars of Today Support the Roof of Tomorrow?" We intend for this event to be both informative and engaging
not only for our African American/Black students, but also valuable for all interested in cultural diversity.
Throughout the past five years, institutions of higher education and business firms have claimed that increasing
cultural diversity is their primary goal for the 21st Century. Stetson University considers itself a leader in this
movement. However, with recent attacks on federally mandated affirmative action policies, immigration, and a
national political swing to the cultural right, this dedication in the business field may be threatened. In addition,
colleges and universities are battling to maintain their dedication to cultural diversity and sensitivity in the wake
of this upsurge in institutional racism and cultural insensitivity. Are the pillars erected in the past crumbling to
dust? This is the central issue that will be discussed.
The date for this event is February 13, 1996. The panel discussion will begin at 7:30 p.m. in rooms 204/205 of
the Carlton Union Building. In order for this event to be the exciting and energizing learning experience for all
