2009 SPRING COMMENCEMENT INFORMATION:
BACCALAUREATE: Friday, May 8 at 7:00 PM in the H. Douglas Lee Chapel, Elizabeth Hall.
Faculty line of march will form at 6:30 in the Elizabeth Hall corridor. University Chaplain Michael Frank will deliver the
sermon and Kyle Knappenberger, 2008 Giffin Scholarship Recipient, will sing the anthem. A reception will follow at the
fountain (rain plan: duPont-Ball Library).
COMMENCEMENT: Saturday, May 9 - EDMUNDS CENTER
9:00 AM: School of Music / School of Business Administration (both graduate and undergraduate students). The
faculty line of march will form at 8:30 a.m. in Fraternity Row (rain plan lower west corridor). Commencement speaker
Richard McMahan, Stetson Trustee, will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. Student speakers will be Hassan
Anderson (Music) and Andrew Davis (Business).
2:00 PM: College of Arts & Sciences (both graduate and undergraduate students).The faculty line of march will form
at 1:30 p.m. in Fraternity Row (rain plan lower west corridor). The commencement speaker John Churchill, Secretary of the
Phi Beta Kappa Society, will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree. Student speakers will be Isa Adney
and Gentry Mander.
Full regalia is required for Baccalaureate and both commencements. The Line of March is attached elsewhere to this
edition of The Newsletter. The "Hail and Farewell Celebration" will be staged in the Rinker Field House from 11:00 a.m. -
1:00 p.m., offering students, parents and faculty from the schools and college a chance to meet, greet and eat between the
two ceremonies.
