forced a change in the day and time of her lecture on campus. The event sponsors hope that you will be able to

ACADEMIC HONORS CONVOCATION-Friday, April 24, noon, Elizabeth Hall Auditorium. A reminder that this
office needs the names of students receiving awards from your department or program. The deadline is not until

ALGERNON SYDNEY SULLIVAN AWARDS. Faculty and staff are invited to offer nominations for the 1997
Algernon Sydney Sullivan Awards. These awards are given annually to the man and the woman in the May
graduating class "whose personal example and influence throughout the campus community best exemplifies the
finest spiritual qualities of humanity and high character." This prestigious award generally is considered among
the highest recognition given to a graduating senior and is given at many universities jointly by the institution and
the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation in New York. A committee, including faculty appointed by the Faculty
Senate, will review all nominations and determine the awards recipients. Please provide as much background
information as possible for each person who is nominated. The recipients will receive the award at the Academic
Honors Convocation on April 24. Nominations should be forwarded to Jim Beasley in Campus Life, Unit 8357,

REMINDER--ETTER McTEER TURNER AWARDS. Faculty and staff are invited to offer nominations for the fourth
annual Etter McTeer Turner Award, which will recognize the graduating senior who has achieved the highest
standard of excellence in academic performance, leadership, community service, personal character, and integrity.
The award is initiated by the J. Ollie Edmunds family, through the Gualala Foundation, to honor the service of the
late Etter McTeer Turner, and will provide a companion student award to the William Hugh McEniry Excellence in
Teaching Award, which also was established by Dr. Edmunds' foundation to recognize outstanding faculty
members. A committee, including faculty appointed by the Faculty Senate, will review all nominations and
determine the award recipient. Please provide as much background information as possible for each person who
is nominated. Nominations should be forwarded to the Office of Academic Affairs, unit 8358, by Friday, April 15,
