The Faculty Senate will meet Monday, April 3, at 6:45 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge. Dinner will be served in the
Hollis Center Classroom preceding the meeting at 6:00 p.m. rf§§|||^^ Ron
Clifton will be in attendance to answer questions about Stetson activities at Celebration. Robbie Boerth will also
be in attendance to answer questions concerning the proposed Honor Code, drafted by the Honor Code Task Force.
All interested faculty are invited to attend the meeting.

MATH/ART LECTURE. Visiting professor Dietmar Guderian will discuss the links between mathematics and
contemporary art in "Beauty, the Square, and Infinity - on Some Recent Connections Between Mathematics and
Contemporary Art, "Monday, April 3, 7 pm in the large presentation room of the Media Center. Professor Guderian,
who currently teaches math and didactics of mathematics at the University of Education (Padagogische
Hochschule), Freiburg, Germany, has lectured at Berkeley, New York State University, and Mexico City University
as well as at many German universities. Author of the book Mathematics in the Art of the Recent Thirty Years,
Guderian has organized a number of European exhibitions and conferences on mathematics and art. A reception
in Sampson Hall foyer will follow the lecture. A&S cultural credit applies for students. Lecture is free and open

The Chaplain's Office is sponsoring a Bookfeast on Laurent Daloz' book Common Fire: Leading Lives of
Commitment in a Complex World, on Tuesday, April 11, at 4:00 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge. Daloz and his coauthors provide a compelling study into how we become committed to the common good and sustain such
commitments in our changing world, as well as suggesting ways in which higher education and other institutions
can contribute to this process. Twenty copies of the book are available from the Chaplain's Office (ext. 7523).
Additional copies can be purchased from the Bookstore. Leaders of the Bookfeast will be Dean Grady Ballenger

JUNE BROOKS AWARD FOR ACTIVISM. The Women and Gender Studies Committee is pleased to announce that
we are now accepting nominations for the annual June Brooks Award for Activism. The award honors the most
outstanding student of the academic year in the area of social/community activism. A letter of nomination
explaining why the student you are nominating should be considered for this award should be sent to Unit 8411
by Friday. April 14. The student will be honored with a cash award at the Honors Convocation on April 19.
