University Faculty Meeting, Friday, February 16, 2001, in the Stetson Room from 12:00 noon - 1:15 p.m. Dr.
Tandy Grubbs will lead the discussion on revisions to the Faculty By-Laws, the Senate By-Laws, and the Faculty
Handbook Appendix. A summary of the revisions as well as the complete versions of the proposed Faculty and
Faculty Senate Bylaws are available on the intranet at: https://beret.stetson.edu/faculty_senate/ . Also on the
agenda are the introduction of Penny Gibbons, Director for Academic Support, and a discussion of IB issues. A
light lunch will be served beginning at 11:45 a.m.

The 2001-2002 Academic Calendar that was included in the November 17, 2000 edition of The Newsletter has
been revised, effective January 24, 2001. The revised calendar is attached elsewhere to this edition of The

David I. Kertzer, a leading expert in the relationship between Catholics and Jews in modern history, will be on
campus Thursday, February 22 at 7:00 P.M. in the duPont-Ball Library, Room 25, Media Center to lecture on "The
Vatican and the Rise of Modern Anti-Semitism". He is best known for his 1997 book. The Kidnapping of Edgardo
Mortara, which was a finalist for the National Book Award for Nonfiction. His new book. The Unholy War: The
Vatican's Role in the Rise of Modern Anti-Semitism is to be published in October, 2001. This is a Cultural Credit
