ANNOUNCEMENTS
REMINDER--The University Faculty will meet Friday, February 6, at noon in the Rinker Auditorium, Davis Hall. A
light lunch will be available beginning at 11:45 a.m. The agenda includes the Stetson University Diversity Plan
presented by Leonard Nance and President Lee; Trustee Meeting Report including budget parameters for next year;
and a report on the Faculty Compensation Committee given by Dean Woodward.

The Garrison Lectures-Monday, February 9, 1998. Robert C. Fuller, Professor of Religious Studies and Director
of the Honors Program of Bradley University will speak Monday, February 9, at noon in Rinker Auditorium, Davis
Hall. His topic is entitled "The End of the World: Christian Views." On Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. in Elizabeth
Hall Chapel he will address "Alternative Medicine: Religious and Cultural Perspectives." A Phi Beta Kappa graduate
of Denison University, Fuller holds the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Chicago where he studied
with Martin E. Mary and Don Browning. The author of seven books, he has written Ecology and Care: An
Interdisciplinary View of the Self and Moral Obligation. Mesmerism and the American Cure of Souls, Religion and
Wine. Americans and the Unconscious, and Naming the Antichrist. He is completing a volume on the use of mind-
altering substances in Religion. The Garrison Lectures were established by Cynthia DeStefano Garrison ('95) and
her husband Eric Garrison. Additional support has come from the Artists and Lecturers Committee, the Health Care
Program, the Christian Institute for Ethics, and the Honors Program. The Garrison Lectures are an approved

The Winter Blood Drive conducted by the American Red Cross will be held on campus, Monday and Tuesday,
February 9 and 10, from 10.00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Stetson Room of the Carlton Union Building. Your
support of the Blood Drive is extremely important. Lead the way and show our students your commitment to
helping others. Your friends, neighbors, and family depend upon the Red Cross for blood and blood products. If
you do not donate, the supply of blood may not be adequate. Please donate and encourage your friends,

FLUTE MASTERCLASS. Next Tuesday, February 10, Peter Lloyd will teach a flute masterclass for Stetson Music
School students, and all interested staff and students are welcome to attend. Peter Lloyd studied in his native
England at the Royal College of Music before continuing his studies in Paris with Caratge, subsequently working
with Jean-Pierre Rampal, Geoffrey Gilbert, and Marcel Moyse. He has held principal flute positions in the Scottish
National, Halle, and BBC Philharmonic Orchestras before his appointment as principal flutist of the London
Symphony Orchestra, a position he held for 20 years. Teaching appointments have included the Royal Scottish
Academy and London's Guildhall School, after which he was flute professor at Indiana University from 1987-1993.
He returned to England in 1993 to become head of the flute studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in
Manchester, and continues to travel world-wide giving master classes and recitals. The class will be in Room 352
Presser Hall, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Admission is free. From: Jean West
