ANNOUNCEMENTS
UNIVERSITY FACULTY MEETING-noon, R inker A udttortum, Davis Hafl, Friday, April 16. 1999. PLEASE NOTE THE
CHANGE IN LOCATION. Items on the agenda include reports on Admissions Strategy (Jim Beasley), Faculty
Compensation Task Force (Jim Woodward), and a report from the Academic Affairs Committee of the Faculty
Senate on approved changes in the Women and Gender Studies Program. Lunch will be provided.
HAND AWARDS AND GRANTS. I would like to clarify two points regarding the information which was listed in
last week's edition of The Newsletter. (1) The information under "Procedures" and "Committees" (pages 2 and
3 of the document "Hand Awards and Grants") is applicable to both the Hand Award for Research and the Hand
Community Impact Award. (2) The Hand Awards are based on the current year's work and previous years also.
A reminder that the deadline date for the Faculty Awards is Friday. April 16 and for Faculty Grants, Friday, April

UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP AND PERFORMANCE DAY (USAPD) will be held on campus Friday, April 16,
1999. Established to applaud efforts of academic excellence, events will be held across campus throughout the
