FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE. Please make note of the following correction to the final exam schedule: The
Wednesday, MW 12:00 class final exam will be Wednesday. May 3rd and not as listed.

REMINDER-TIME WARNER COMMUNICATIONS EXCELLENCE IN SPORTS PROGRAM will be conducting a Baseball
Clinic on Saturday, January 29, featuring instruction from Hatter coaches and athletes. The clinic will be held at
Melching Field at Conrad Park from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. All school age children ages five through seventeen
are invited to attend, and will receive a free t-shirt and a chance to win prizes. All the families and friends of
faculty and staff are encouraged to attend. Please have your children wear the appropriate clothing and bring their
baseball glove if they would like to participate in the clinic. If you have any questions please call ext. 8110. See

Mayan novelist, poet, painter and cultural activist Gaspar Gonzalez will be speaking on "The Return of the Maya"
Monday, January 31, at 7:00 p.m. in the Media Center in the basement of the Library. He is a professor of Mayan
literature and the oral tradition as well as a member of the Academy of Mayan Languages of Guatemala. He also
is an official of the Ministry of Culture of Guatemala where he serves as a consultant in Mayan culture. His talk
will focus on recent developments in the Mayan culture revitalization movement and include poetry readings in his
native language of Q'anjob'al (translations will be provided). From: Robert Sitler
ATTENTION FACULTY: Bruce Anderson, Enrollment Consultant from USA Group/Noel Levitz will be on campus
Tuesday, February 1. Any faculty member who would like to hear from Bruce and participate in the discussion
is invited to come to the Carlton Union Building, 204/205 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
Topics of discussions will include:
(1) Setting goals to increase academic quality of future incoming classes.
(2) Initiatives to accomplish future goals.
(3) Discussion of current enrollment model.

WENDELL BERRY, noted essayist and conservationist, will speak on Wednesday, February 2, at 7:00 p.m. in Allen
Hall, on the topic of "Life is a Miracle." He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Jean Stein Award
from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters and The Lyndhurst Foundation Prize. He has
authored many books, both fiction and non-fiction, as well as more than 15 books of poetry. His non-fiction work
include The Unsettling of America. The Gift of Good Land. What are People For?, and Another Turn of the Crank.
Berry lives in Port Royal, Kentucky, where he farms, thinks, writes, and, on special occasions, will leave to come
