ACADEMIC CALENDAR 2000-2001. Attached elsewhere to The Newsletter is the academic calendar for the 2000-
2001 academic year. Of particular note to faculty is that Opening Convocation has been changed to Saturday,

REMINDER: The Women and Gender Studies Program will be sponsoring a workshop to reevaluate and perhaps
remodel the goals and methodologies of WGS 100: Gender, Race, Class and Sexuality. The workshop will be held
on Thursday, May 4, from approximately 9:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Stipends and lunch will be provided to all
participants. We are looking for people who can contribute "out-of-the-box" ideas. Your participation does not
presuppose a commitment to teach the course. The workshop may also provide valuable insights for those who
have developed or are developing cross-listed courses with WGS. For more information or to sign up for the

Interested faculty from across the university are invited to apply for a mini-workshop designed to help them prepare
for creating and teaching courses in their discipline that will incorporate oral communication elements to promote
communication proficiency and competency. The workshop will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.. May 8 and
9. Lunch each day and a $175 stipend will be awarded to each participant. To apply, send a memo to Michael
