ACADEMIC HONORS CONVOCATION. This is advance notice that the Academic Honors Convocation is Friday,
April 23, in Elizabeth Hall Auditorium, at 12:00 noon. As in previous years, forms will be sent to department chairs

THE SPRING 1999 THURMAN LECTURE SERIES. Professor Annette Gordon-Reed, Author, Attorney, Educator,
New York Law School, will be the speaker on Tuesday, March 9, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Stetson Room. Her
lecture is entitled "Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings: The Legacy of Slavery." The following morning between
9:00 -11:00 a.m., Professor Gordon-Reed will engage in faculty conversation in rooms 204/5 of the Carlton Union

SAM R. MARKS PRIZES IN RELIGION. Competition for the Sam R. Marks Prizes in Religion is open to students who
have completed at least three hours in Religious Studies. Application forms are available in 202 Allen Hall, the

duPONT-BALL LIBRARY-SPRING BREAK SCHEDULE
The duPont-Ball Library will be closed for continued renovation work during Spring Break. The Library will be
closed to users from 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 7. University faculty and staff
needing assistance may call ext. 7175 during regular office hours Monday-Friday, March 1-5, and we will do our
best to accommodate your needs on a case-by-case basis. The Library's catalog, databases, and virtual collection
links are available from our homepage, www.stetson.edu/departments/library. We will try to make individual
arrangements to check materials out to faculty and staff during the Spring break interim. Return of books and
other materials may be made through the book return at the entrance.
The Jenkins Music Library in Presser Hall will close at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26. It will be open Monday-
Friday, March 1-5, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Jenkins Library will be closed Saturday and Sunday, February
27-28, and Saturday, March 6. It will open at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 7. From: Sims Kline
