ANNOUNCEMENTS
BACCALAUREATE. The baccalaureate service will be held on Sunday, May 12, at 10:00 a.m. in Elizabeth Hall
Chapel. Selected faculty will form at 9:30 a.m. in the hallway of Elizabeth Hall. Brunch will be served at 11:00
a.m. immediately following the ceremony in the Stetson Room for parents, students, and faculty.
COMMENCEMENT. The Commencement Exercise will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Edmunds Center. The line of
march for Commencement will form at 12:45 p.m. in front of the Lambda Chi Alpha House on fraternity row. Full
academic regalia is requested. The line of march will move AT 1:15 P.M. in order to be seated by 1:30 p.m. In
case of rain, the line will form in the hallway on the first floor west side of Edmunds Center.
PRESIDENT'S RECEPTION FOR GRADUATES. All faculty are cordially invited to attend the President's Reception
for graduates and their parents on Saturday, May 11, from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the President's Home.

FRESHMAN YEAR AND ADVISING SYSTEM
Thanks to the generosity of the Gualala Foundation we have received a $25,000 grant to study and improve the
advising system and the Freshman Year at Stetson. Much has been done in recent years to make the Freshman
Year experience better for students and to improve the advising system. But I believe it is time to take a
comprehensive look at the process, with a view toward further improvements. With that in mind I will be
convening an all day workshop of faculty, administrators, and students to explore the issue. If anyone is interested

The Faculty Senate held elections at its final meeting of the academic year with the following results:
Chair: Randall Hansen
Vice Chair: Jeff Horn
Secretary/Treasurer: Guy Houk
Enrollment Management: Erich Friedman
Several faculty ended their three-year service to the Senate and were recognized for their efforts, including Michael
Branton, Peter Heine, Stephen Robinson, and John Schorr. The Senate also welcomed several newly elected
Senators, including Bill Andrews, Brian Doherty, Guy Houk, and lliana Mankin. Finally, two faculty who will serve
as replacements for faculty on sabbatical were recognized, and include Patrick Coggins and Michele Skeiton.
