ADVANCE REGISTRATION. A reminder that advanced-registration for the Spring semester will be held on Tuesday
and Wednesday, April 6 and 7, from 2:30 to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, April 8, 2:30 - 6:00 p.m. The Registrar's
Office will be open at noon on April 6 and 7, and will be open from .10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on April 8 to

The Stetson Faculty Senate invites the participation of each student and faculty member in submitting nominations
for the William Hugh McEniry Award for Excellence in Teaching. All full-time teaching faculty on the DeLand
campus are eligible, except for the following recent recipients (Ranjini Thaver, Betty Thorne, Leonard Nance,
Michael Rickman, and Gareth Williams). The criteria for nomination include excellence in classroom teaching,
professional growth, intellectual stimulation given to the academic community outside the classroom, and service
to students and the University as a whole. Final selection will be made by a secret Senate Committee and
announced during the Spring Commencement, May 9. Nominations should be sent to the McEniry Nominations
Committee, Unit 8272, and must be received by April 13, 1999. A nomination form was attached in last week's

9TH ANNUAL JURIED STUDENT ART EXHIBITION and AWARDS CEREMONY. Exhibition Judge Steve Lotz (art
professor, UCF) will select the winners of eighteen awards to be presented at Monday evening's (April 5) 7:00 p.m.
special student awards ceremony in the Duncan Gallery of Art, Sampson Hall. A catered reception, free and open
to the public, will begin at 6:00 p.m. This is an Arts and Sciences cultural attendance event.

JUNE BROOKS MEMORIAL AWARD FOR ACTIVISM. The Women and Gender Studies Council is now accepting
nominations for the June Brooks Memorial Award for Activism. The June Brooks Award will be presented to a
Stetson student in good academic standing who best exemplifies the activism of former Stetson employee June
Brooks. Special consideration will be given to nominees whose activities promote the cause of women, but any
Stetson student working to fight discrimination based on race, gender, or sexual orientation or working to promote
peace and social justice will be considered. Please send nominations (including a brief paragraph describing the
activities of the nominee) to Nancy Vosburg, Unit 8423, by Friday, April 9.

KAREN HAAS AWARD. The Karen Haas Award was established to honor students in the Humanities Division for
exceptional creativity in their assigned course work, achieving new meaning by thoughtful original work that
challenges, in a fully responsible way, the restrictions of conventional patterns. Please send a statement of support
to Hilde Hoogenboom, Unit 8315, by April 9. The award will be announced at the Academic Honors Convocation
