Nominations due for McEniry Award for Excellence in Teaching
ANNOUNCEMENTS
William Hugh McEniry Award for Excellence in Teaching. The Faculty Senate invites faculty to submit nominations
for the William Hugh McEniry Award for Excellence in Teaching. All full-time teaching faculty on the DeLand
campus are eligible for nomination (except for recipients of the award within the past five years). The award
winner, which is selected by a secret committee, will be announced at Spring commencement. All nominations
must be received by Friday, April 6, 2001 and can be mailed to the McEniry Nominations Committee at Campus
Box 8300. A nomination form is attached elsewhere to this edition of The Newsletter. From: Mike Bitter
Mayan Week Activities
A Mayan family from Guatemala will be on campus March 19-23 visiting classes and participating in several
public events to include:
"Mavan Ecological Perspectives & Sustainable Development" A focus on reforestation and civic development
work. Tuesday, March 20 at 7:30 in rm. 25 in the Instructional Media Center.
"Mayan Culture at the Dawn of the Millennium" A focus on Mayan cultural sensibilities in childbirth, weaving, and
identity. Wednesday, March 21 at 7:30 in rm. 25 in the Instructional Media Center.
"Stetson Students in the Mavan World" A report by four students who recently returned from a course on Mayan
culture in Mexico. Thursday, March 22 at 7:30 in the John E. Johns Rm., Elizabeth Hall.

Friday Faith in Action is today, March 16, 2001, at noon, in the Carlton Union Building (CUB), in room 204/205.
The topic for this meeting will be "Christian World Mission". Mr. Dan Scott, Missionary-ln-Residence at Stetson,
and Mrs. Muff McAllister, former Presbyterian missionary to Pakistan will talk about current issues in Christian
mission and ways in which Good News is transmitted by the Church around the world. Light lunch will be
