ANNOUNCEMENTS
The University Faculty Meeting scheduled for Friday, February 12, at noon in Rinker Auditorium will be an open
discussion of the current administrative/governance structure and processes. Michele Skelton, Chair of the Senate
Faculty Welfare Committee, will moderate the discussion, which will focus on three issues: (1) What works:
Benefits/Advantages of the new system; (2) What does not work: Concerns/Disadvantages of the new system;
and (3) Suggestions for change. Please note that no administrators will be present at this meeting.
Faculty members should bring the materials they received which provide additional information about the current
administrative/governance structure and processes.
A light lunch will be provided, beginning at 11:45 a.m.

JACK EARL EXHIBITION ENDS TODAY. If you have not visited this exhibition you will want to stop by the Duncan
Gallery (Sampson Hall) today. Jack Earl's unique ceramic sculptures are well worth seeing. Gallery is open 10:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
STETSON ART ALUMNI EXHIBITION opens next Friday, February 19, 1999. Twelve art alumni from as far back
as 1963 and as recent as December 1998 will fill the Duncan Gallery of Art and Sampson Hall display cases with
their current work through March 28. All twelve are currently either professional artists, artist/teachers, pursuing
masters degrees in the art/art-education field, or continuing to produce artwork in addition to other employment.
Many of them plan to attend the President-sponsored catered opening reception on Friday, February 19, 5:00 -

PHI ALPHA THETA LECTURE. Dr. Gary Maris will be presenting the second Phi Alpha Theta Lecture for the 1998-
99 academic year. His topic, "Drums of History: The German Elections of 1998," will be presented Thursday,
February 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Flagler 234. Gary was a personal observer of the elections during his fall sabbatical.
This will be his first research presentation to the Stetson faculty since stepping down from the Dean's position,
and it will be an exciting lecture. The presentation is open to all. Phi Alpha Theta is the national honor society

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE. The University Chaplain invites everyone to attend an Ash Wednesday Service on
February 17 at 4:00 p.m. in the Hollis Center. This will replace the Wednesday worship service normally held at
2:00 p.m. in the Hollis Center. The next worship service will be held on February 24, at 2:00 p.m. No services
during spring break, but they will resume on March 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hollis Center.
