Live in Elizabeth Hall, Tuesday, March 11, 7:30 p.m.—The four selections on the recital of soprano Lloyd
Linney and pianist Michael Rickman will provide tremendous variety—a church solo cantata, a setting of English
poems for voice and instruments, a group of songs from Goethe's novel "Wilhelm Meister" and a French aria.
The cantata is Bach's Cantata No. 51 for soprano, trumpet, two violins, cello, and organ, for which Lloyd and
Michael will be joined by Moffatt Williams, Routa Kroumovitch, Alvaro Gomez, and David Bjella. The English
poems are a 20th-century cycle by American composer Seymour Barab. The Goethe songs are by Robert
Schumann, and the aria is from Jules Massenet's "Manon."
Live in the Rotunda, Wednesday, March 12, 12:15 p.m. —Don't miss your second opportunity to hear the
Stetson Concert Choir, conducted by Robert Fort, in the rotunda of the County Courthouse. The February
concert was sung to standing-room only. The rotunda of the County Courthouse is even better suited for a
cappella singing than the Administration rotunda of February's concert, and Dr. Fort has taken advantage of
the acoustics in choosing the literature for this exciting and unusual concert. Please invite all of your
community friends to drop by the Courthouse Rotunda before or after lunch, or bring a sandwich and eat it
during the concert. It will be a splendid experience.
Live in Elizabeth Hall, Saturday, March 15, 7:30 p.m.—The Stetson chapter of the CMENC (Collegiate Music
Educators' National Conference) will present their annual and very popular Broadway Revue. The evening is
entirely student rehearsed and student performed. The revue will songs from many Broadway musicals. It's a
money-maker for the CMENC, so bring your wallets ($5 general admission, $2 with Stetson ID).

REMINDER-The Ballet Gran Folklorico de Mexico will perform at the Edmunds Center on March 15 at 8:00
p.m. Free tickets are available with a Stetson I.D. at the Edmunds Center Ticket Office. General Admission is

The American Studies Department and the Hollis Leadership Development Program are co-sponsoring a Hollis
Book Feast on Thursday, April 3, at 4:00 p.m., in the Private Dining Room, with dinner to be available at 6:00
p.m. The book, Why Things Bite Back: Technology and the Revenge of Unintended Consequences by Edward
Tenner, is a thoughtful assessment of the cultural impact of high technology-an issue that touches us all as
citizens of the world and as members of the Stetson community. Tenner emphasizes that technological
innovation brings both simplifications on the path to progress and unintended "revenge" effects that
sometimes make life more difficult. Administrators, faculty, and students are invited to discuss the book and
its themes. Thirty copies of Tenner's book are available free of charge in the American Studies Office (218
Sampson; 822-7530), in exchange for a good faith effort to read the book. Discussion may continue over
dinner, which is also at no cost to the thirty participants. Thanks to the efficient work of Jeffrey Myers, the
books are in hand, ready to begin reading during the last few precious hours of Spring Break!
