ANNOUNCEMENTS
REMINDER-UNIVERSITY FACULTY MEETING. We are scheduling a special Faculty Meeting to discuss the
Articulation Agreement between ICUF (Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida) and Florida Community
Colleges. Some of the terms of the Agreement have changed since our last discussion several years ago, and our
circumstances have changed as well. Attached elsewhere to The Newsletter is a memo from Jim Beasley that
provides further information. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, January 24 at 12:00 noon in the Rinker
Auditorium in Davis Hall. Refreshments will be available beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the lobby. If you intend to
partake of refreshments, please come early if you have no class conflict. We would like to start the meeting

REMINDER-STUDENT PRESENTATIONS ON GENDER AND FEMINISM. Two students who received SURE grants
last summer to conduct gender-related research will present the results of their work today Friday, January 17,
from 12:00 -1:15 p.m. in Flagler Hall, 201. Elisabeth Simmons, whose summer project has resulted in two papers
that she will present at academic conferences this spring, will discuss "The Female Police Office in Detective
Fiction." Angela Hamel will present on "Feminism Behind the Veil: Feminist Interpretations of Nawal al-Sadaawi
and Alifa Rifaat." Beverages and dessert will be provided, courtesy of the Provost. Feel free to bring your lunch.

GARY BOLDING EXHIBITS NEWEST WORKS. Gary Bolding presents his most recent oil paintings in Even Better
Than The Real Thing, an exhibition opening Friday, January 17, 1997, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Duncan Gallery of
Art, Sampson Hall. Many of the works in this exhibition were painted during Bolding's sabbatical in San Miguel
de Allende, Mexico, where he lived and worked from August 1995 to June 1996. On display in the Sampson Hall
Foyer Gallery concurrently with Bolding's exhibition will be the polaroid transfer prints of artist Amelia Tierney, who
moves between studios in San Francisco, New York, and Flagler Beach. Both exhibitions continue through
February 21,1 997. In addition, Gary Bolding will give a lecture in the Duncan Gallery on Wednesday, January 29,
1997, at 7:00 p.m. (This lecture had originally been scheduled for February 11.) Gary Bolding's exhibition and
