On Wednesday, April 8, 1992, Dr. Lewis Baldwin, Associate Professor of Religion at Vanderbilt University will
be on campus for two addresses. Sponsored by The Institute for Christian Ethics, Baldwin will deliver the sermon
Wednesday morning in the Chapel on the topic, "There are no Short Cuts to the Promised Land." He will deliver
a public lecture Wednesday evening, at 7:30 p.m. entitled, "The Continuing Search for the Beloved Community:
The Ethics of Martin Luther King, Jr."
Dr. Baldwin is a nationally known scholar on Afro-American Studies. His work on Martin Luther King, Jr. has
been recognized as the most significant analysis of King's cultural roots yet available. He has recently authored
the highly acclaimed two volume study of King: There is a Balm in Gilead: The Cultural Roots of Martin Luther
King, Jr. (Fortress, 1991) and To Make the Wounded Whole: The Cultural Legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.

ATTENTION FACULTY ADVISERS: Freshmen and sophomore students who still have not complied with the
University Immunization Requirements by 3/30/92 will not be allowed to advance register in April for the
upcoming summer session and/or fall semester. These students have had multiple notifications of their individual
immunity status. Once they have completed their immunization requirements, they will be cleared by the Student
Health Service and may then pick up their registration packets from the Registrar's Office and make their advising
appointments. Faculty advisers will receive their packets as usual. If students contact you, please urge them
to complete their immunization requirements without delay.

FINAL REMINDER. Budget Supervisors should keep in mind that the 1991-92 budget requisitions for outside
Purchase Orders except those for: routine, on-going operations; local vendors, or an absolute emergency, are
to be fully completed and in the Purchasing Department by the close of business on Friday. April 17. This will
make necessary the obtaining of any appropriate approvals prior to that time. In the unusual circumstance of
any related necessary budget transfers to fund an order, such documentation must be fully approved and in the
Office of the Comptroller by Thursday, April 16. Thank you for not requesting any exceptions, in order that we
may adhere to a predetermined audit schedule.
