REMINDER: Farai Chideya, ABC News Correspondent and former CNN Political Analyst will be on campus on April
14. Students are invited to meet with Ms. Chideya at the Student Leadership Summit reception and discussion
and will meet in 204-205 CUB at 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 14. Her lecture entitled "Race, Women and
the Media", Rinker Auditorium, Davis Hall, is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. that same evening. This event fulfills the

The Political Science Honorary--Pi Sigma Alpha will have an Informal Brown Bag discussion on Tuesday, April 14,
at 12:15 p.m. in the CUB, Prrivate Dining Room. Our guest speaker will be Professor Larry Dodd of the University
of Florida. He is a widely published congressional scholar and will raise many current, interesting points about

William Hugh McEniry Award for Excellence in Teaching. Nominations are now being accepted for the William
Hugh McEniry Award for Excellence in Teaching. Nomination forms can be found at the front desk of the CUB and

Live in Elizabeth Hall, Tuesday, April 14, 7:30 p.m.—The Stetson Brass, a faculty brass quintet, will play their
premiere public recital. The Stetson Brass, which was formed last year, includes faculty Moffatt Williams, trumpet;
Bill Rogan, horn; David Schmidt, trombone; and Ed Firth, tuba; and alum Pete Waidelich playing second trumpet.
The group will play works by Samuel Scheidt, Howard Cable, William Byrd, Robert Washburn, JS Bach, and Eldon
Rathburn.
Live in Elizabeth Hall, Wednesday, April 15, 7:30 p.m.—The Stetson University Jazz Ensemble and The Stetson
Vocal Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of George West, will perform a jazz program with the theme, "Forties
and Contemporary Big Band Music." The Jazz Ensemble will play tunes by Duke Ellington, Kirby Shaw, Charlie
Parker, George West, and others. The Vocal Jazz Ensemble will sing "Lover, Come Back to Me," "People," and
other popular favorites. Note that this is a new location for the Jazz Ensemble. They are trying out EHA rather than
the Stetson Room.
Live in Elizabeth Hall, Friday, April 17, 7:30 p.m.—The concert of the University Orchestra, directed by Darryl One,
will feature the winners of the student concerto competition, mezzo-soprano Katherine Rohrer and cellist Melissa
Castellano and Stravinsky's "Firebird Suite." Details will appear in next week's Newsletter.

PUBLIC LECTURE: The Health Care Issues Task Force is sponsoring a public lecture by Dr. Mark Van Fleet on
"New Medical Technology and Trends in Health Care" on April 14, 1998, at noon in Hollis Center, Room 123.
Bring your lunch and learn about the rapidly changing field of health care. Students will receive cultural credit for

OPEN REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER AND FALL. Faculty advisers are reminded that early-registration for the
Summer Session and Fall Semester will continue until the end of the semester. If you have advisees who have
not completed their registration, they should fill out a new course request card, have it signed by you, and then
they should turn it in at the Registrar's office. Completing registration now will avoid having to do it over again
