ANNOUNCEMENTS
University Faculty Meeting
The regular University Faculty Meeting, scheduled for Friday, February, has been cancelled. In its place each
School/College will hold a meeting to discuss Trustee Executive Committee Decisions on the 1996-97 Budget and
1997-98 Budget. Material will be sent from the President's Office in advance of the meetings. The College of Arts
& Sciences and the School of Music will meet Friday, February 7, at noon, the former in 334 Flagler, and the latter
in Room 113, Presser Hall. The School of Business will meet Tuesday, February 11, at 12:15 in the Board Room,
Lynn Business Center. Following these meetings we will schedule a special University Faculty Meeting if that
would be helpful to address any questions or issues that come out of the School/College sessions. Our hope is
that this approach will improve communication and help keep Faculty informed. Please contact me or your Dean

The Faculty Senate will meet Monday, February 3, at 6:45 p.m., in the Faculty Lounge of the Carlton Union
Building. At the request of the Faculty Senate, Dr. Amiri will be leading a discussion regarding CIT plans over the
next five years. He is also seeking input from the faculty regarding priorities for the networking of buildings, smart
classroom usage. He will speak from 6:45 - 7:20 and Senate business will follow.

FACULTY. If you have identified any students with significant vision impairment, please inform them of the help
now available in the duPont-Ball Library's Instructional Media Center. Using any of five special software programs,
a student can:
• magnify a computer screen up to 16X
• magnify printed material up to 32X
• fill out and sign a form
• have the computer read aloud any text
• convert spoken words into text, then edit and format them
• scan a page, then convert it to text that can be read, stored, or formatted for use in a standard word
processing program.
Each of the programs is very "user friendly," but first-time users will be tutored in the operation of the equipment
