STETSON ART ALUMNI EXHIBITION opens today Friday, February 19, 1999. Twelve art alumni from as far back
as 1963 and as recent as December 1998 will fill the Duncan Gallery of Art and Sampson Hall display cases with
their current work through March 28. All twelve are currently either professional artists, artist/teachers, pursuing
masters degrees in the art/art-education field, or continuing to produce artwork in addition to other employment.
Many of them plan to attend the President-sponsored catered opening reception on Friday, February 19, 5:00 -

Live in Elizabeth Hall, Saturday, February 20, 2:00 p.m.—Stetson Weekend Showcase Concert: Bobby's Adams'
Symphonic Wind Ensemble will play an encore performance of some of the program from their February 12
concert, plus a little. They will perform portions of the Giannini Symphony and the Folksong Suite of Stanhope,
and all of Bernstein's Candide Suite. They will add the Overture to La Belle Helene by Jacques Offenbach,
transcribed for band by Lawrence Odom, and a few marches. Appropriately for Homecoming, the concert will be
conducted by two recent alums and a soon-to-be alum —Doug Phillips, interning at Lake Mary High School; Michael
Eddy, Director of Bands at Forest Park High School in Georgia; and Charles Watford, Director of the Lake Howell
High School Band. Please note the 2:00 pm time which differs from some advertised times.
Live in Elizabeth Hall, Tuesday, February 23, 7:30 p.m. —The student scholarship chamber group, The Barron String
Quartet, coached by Alvaro Gomez, will be joined by friends for a concert of works by Mozart, Haydn, Razek,
Borodin, and Dvorak. The quartet includes Phillip Anderson, violin; Marcin Arendt, violin; Elizabeth Napier, viola;
and Eric Jones, cello. The friends are Dana Riveccio, oboe; and Chong Park, piano.
Live in The Stetson Room, Wednesday, February 24, 7:30 p.m. —The Jazz Chamber Ensembles concert will include
performances of small instrumental and vocal jazz ensembles. The instrumentalists, conducted by George West,
will play several swing and bop-style pieces as well as three pieces performed by a nine-piece cool-style ensemble
reminiscent of the '50s. The evening will also see the debut of the new ten-voice Vocal Jazz Ensemble conducted
by Nancy Tittelbaugh-Riley. Nancy comes to us from Ithaca College where she taught music education courses and
directed the Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Since 1991 she has adjudicated for All-State Jazz Choir competitions in New
York State, and she served as chair of the Vocal Jazz/Show Choir Repertoire and Standards Committee for the

SAM R. MARKS PRIZES IN RELIGION. Competition for the Sam R. Marks Prizes in Religion is open to students who
have completed at least three hours in Religious Studies. Application forms are available in 202 Allen Hall, the
