Students, Faculty, and Staff are invited to hear Woodrow Wilson Fellow Deborah Amos speak on "Experiences of
a Woman Correspondent." She will be speaking informally and answering questions from 10:00 to 10:45 this
Friday morning (March 3) in 205 Flagler. Please encourage students interested in Communications as a career or
in meeting this experienced ABC correspondent to come hear Ms. Amos.
CELEBRATE WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH! The Women and Gender Studies Program has a number of events
planned for March, officially designated by Congress as Women's History Month. Join us in our celebration by
attending the following:
Wednesday, March 8,10:00 a.m., Encounter speaker will be Dr. Kandy Queen-Sutherland in a lecture titled "Sticks
and Stones May Break My Bones, but Words Are What Harm Me." Sponsored by Women and Gender Studies.

Wednesday, March 22, 10:00 a.m.. Encounter speaker Warren J. Blumenfeld lecturing on "Homophobia: How We
All Pay the Price." Blumenfeld is coauthor of Looking at Gav and Lesbian Issues and coproducer of the
documentary film "Pink Triangles." Sponsored by Students Transcending Homophobia, Artists and Lecturers
Committee, Council of Student Activities, Office of Multicultural Affairs, and Women and Gender Studies.

Tuesday, March 28, 8:00 p.m., Professor N'Dri Assie-Lumumba will lecture on "Women, Education and the
Liberation Struggle in Africa: Challenges and Prospects for the Twenty-First Century." Assie-Lumumba is
Professor of Africana Studies and Women's Studies at Cornell University. This lecture wilf take place in the
Stetson Room of the Carlton Union Building and is sponsored by the Artists and Lecturers Committee and the
International Symposium on Sub-Saharan Africa.
Late March or early April, STASA (Students Together Against Sexual Assault) is organizing the annual "TAKE BACK
