LIBRARY AUTOMATION SYSTEM DEMO: Faculty and staff are cordially invited to attend a demonstration of the
SIRSI library automation system today, Friday, April 7, from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. in Room 15L, duPont-Ball Library.
The presentation will include an online demo of the SIRSI system at Emory University. This system is one of
several currently under review for Stetson. From: Sims Kline
The Faculty Senate will meet Monday, April 10, 1995, at 6:45 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge. Dinner and the meeting

Don't miss the 1995 ATHLETIC AUCTION to be held Saturday, April 8, from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Edmunds
Center. Ten dollars ($10) per person includes a buffet dinner with live musical entertainment, bid number, auction

A reminder that advanced registration for the Summer term and Fall semester will be held on Tuesday and
Wednesday, April 11 and 12, from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, April 13, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. The
Registrar's Office will open at noon on April 11 and 12 and will be open regular hours on Thursday, April 13.
A request to update degree requirement forms (check sheets) for the 1995-96 school year has been sent to each
academic dean. Department chairs are reminded that updated information is due in the Registrar's Office by May
5 so we may be ready for summer orientation and registration of new students. Your help in providing accurate
and timely information is a key factor in this process and is greatly appreciated. From: AI Wehrle
Collegia! Seminar will meet on Friday, April 14, at noon in the Private Dining Room. The presentation will be made
by Ranjini Thaver, assistant professor of economics, who only recently completed her defense of her dissertation
(congratulations to her!). The presentation is related to that important milestone of her career: "The Role of the
Informal Sector in Restructuring the South African Economy." Bring your lunch; coffee and dessert provided by
Dean Gary Maris of the College of Arts and Sciences.
ABSTRACT:
An evaluation will be made on whether or not the informal sector in South Africa in contributing towards
restructuring at a general level. At a more specific level, the question of black economic empowerment is
considered within the context of restructuring. The findings from field work undertaken during 1991 will be
presented, and their validity since 1994 will be explored.
