BLOOD DRIVE. The January Blood Drive will be held Wednesday, January 16, from 11:00 a.m.
until 5:00 p.m. in the Stetson Room of the Carlton Union Building. In addition to
providing the 100 pints a day needed for our local hospitals, the Red Cross is helping
to supply blood to U.S. troops in the Persian Gulf. This places a heavy strain on the
local blood program. Please support the Blood Drive by donating blood and by encouraging

President Lee has called a special University-wide Assembly on Friday, January 18, at
11:45 a.m. The event will be held in the Elizabeth Hall Chapel. All University faculty,
students, and staff are invited and encouraged to attend. The Assembly is expected to
last 20 minutes. Staff Supervisors are asked to release employees by 11:40 a.m. for the
purpose of attending this meeting. Faculty are asked to announce this in their classes

SENATE MEETING. Since the February Senate meeting, scheduled for February 11, conflicts
with the address to be given by Bishop Desmond Tutu, the Senate voted to combine the
January and February Senate meetings. The combined meeting will be held on January 28
at 6:45 p.m. in the Private Dining Room. This meeting replaces the Senate meetings that
had been announced for January 14 and February 11.
