WINTER TERM UPDATE
Dr. James Bellis (Professor of Anthropology, University of Notre Dame) will continue the remarks that he began
Thursday night in a second lecture entitled "The Archaeology of Multiculturalism." Members of the Stetson
community are invited to join Dr. Patrick Coggins' class in Rinker Auditorium (Davis Hall) Friday, January 14, from
4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Dr. D. Soyini Madison (Assistant Professor of Speech Communication/Performance Studies at the University of
North Carolina-Chapel Hill) will present a public lecture entitled "The Woman That I Am: The Literature and Culture
of Contemporary Women of Color" at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 20, in the Elizabeth Hall Chapel. Following
questions and answers, there will be refreshments, as well as an opportunity for book signing.
Thanks to Jeff Myers, text book manager, two books by Winter Term speakers are available in the Bookstore: Dr.
Maude Wahlman's Signs and Symbols and Dr. Soyini Madison's The Woman That I am.

breakfast will be followed by a commemorative march to DeLand City Hall. For tickets contact Steve Coleman at

SATURDAY, JANUARY 22-11:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The Winter Term Committee and Department of Student Life
will present Culturefest '94. This cultural program will be held at the Carlton Union Building and showcase cultural

MUSIC SCHOOL ACQUISITION! Everyone is invited to a celebration of the receipt by the School of Music of 37
new pianos (valued at $250,000) from the Kawai America Corporation. All of these pianos will be in Room 132,
Presser Hall, on Thursday, January 20 from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. You are invited to see them and hear Michael
Rickman and 36 other faculty and students in a mass performance. Stop by for a few minutes. (37 pianos, 3256
