ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Faculty Senate will meet Monday, February 14, 1994. Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. in the Private Dining room
of the Carlton Union Building. The general meeting will follow from 6:45-8:00 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge. Senate
committees will meet from 8:00-9:00 p.m. Dinner and the meetings are open to all faculty. Anyone wishing to
make a reservation for the dinner should call Jane Bradford, ext. 7175 or 7190 before noon on Monday (cost
$4.50). The agenda for the meeting includes a discussion of the desirability of rescheduling classes for University
events, a discussion of the proposed academic calendar, and Senate committee reports.
A REMINDER: The Faculty Senate will meet on the following dates for the remainder of this academic year: March
7,* April 11, May 2*. 'Because of Spring Break and Final Exams, the March and May 1994 meetings will be on

A reminder of Collegial Seminar today with Dr. Gareth Williams, Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science
on high-tech interactive textbooks. See details in last week's Newsletter. Bring your lunch to the Private Dining
Room at noon. Presentation begins at 12:15 p.m. Dean Maris of the College of Arts and Sciences will provide

REMINDER-The Cultural Studies Reading Group will meet today, Friday, February 11, at 3:30 p.m. at Mary
Pollock's house. The reading is an extract from Alice Kaplan's Memoir, French Lessons, on Faculty reserve in the

VIDEOCONFERENCE. The American Chemical Society Student Affiliates will be sponsoring a videoconference on
"A New Era of Discovery: Plans for Research on Space Station" on Thursday, February 17, from 1:00 p.m. until
3:00 p.m. The audience will learn how the space station will provide a laboratory for research in life sciences,
materials, fluid physics, combustion and biotechnology research and technology development. All faculty, staff,
students and the general public are invited to attend. Please call ext. 8180, 8186, or 6037 if you are interested

LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP for the Professional Development Committee Workshop titled "Ethics-Across-the-
Curriculum," on Tuesday, February 15, 1994, between 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., in the Private Dining Room. The
workshop will explore ways to incorporate ethical inquiry into a variety of courses at Stetson. Clyde Fant, Dean
of the Chapel, and Dixon Sutherland, Director of the Institute for Christian Ethics, will lead the workshop. A dinner
will be served following the presentations so that workshop participants can continue their discussions. Please

The Spring Lynn Center Series will begin Wednesday, February 16, with a Mini Broadway Review by the Collegiate
Music Educators Conference. The time of the musical program will be from 12:50 p.m. - 1:20 p.m., in the Lynn
