ANNOUNCEMENTS
MEMORIAL SERVICE. Jesse Berry passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 13. Clyde
Fant and Mitch Reddish will lead a memorial service for Jesse on Monday, February 18, at
noon in the Elizabeth Hall Chapel. Faculty are encouraged to dismiss classes early. The
service will, conclude by 12:30 p.m. From: Provost Lou Brakeman
Faculty and staff wishing to make donations in memory of Jesse may do so to: Hospice,

On Tuesday, February 19, the award winning film, Genocide, produced by the Simon
Wiesenthal Center, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. in the Stetson Room of the Carlton Union
Building. The showing of the film is sponsored jointly by the West Volusia Holocaust
Memorial Committee, the Department of Religion, and the Department of History at Stetson.
Dr. Paul Steeves, Chair of the Department of History, will introduce the film. Students,
faculty and general public are invited to attend.

The Professional Development Committee is sponsoring a workshop on teaching and research.
The presenters, including Ganapathy Krishnan, Nick Maddox, Kevin Riggs, and Paul Steeves,
will explore issues of student research and writing and the practical and ethical problems
that arise from such cooperative ventures. The workshop will be on Wednesday, February
20, at 4:00 p.m. in rooms 204/5 of the Carlton Union Building. Dinner will be served in
the Private Dining Room at 6:00 p.m. Please call Cheryl Gregory, ext. 8180 for

You are cordially invited to a retirement picnic lunch honoring Mr. Gene Wilkins, General
Maintenance Manager, Physical Plant, on Tuesday, February 26, at noon. The picnic will
be at the Physical Plant. If you plan to attend, please pick up your complimentary ticket
at the Physical Plant office by February 21, 1991.

TO ALL DEPARTMENTS. The Stetson Story, a brief history of Stetson in brochure form, has
been updated and will be reprinted in March. Originally written by Gilbert Lycan, the
brochures is 10 pages, and describes each Stetson presidency and major accomplishments
or events. The update was done by Dr. Pope Duncan, Chancellor. Any office desiring
copies (at approximately .45 each), should call the Public Relations Office, ext. 8920,
with their account number and quantity desired by February 28.
