ROTARY INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS. Please encourage your best students to consider an
application for the above scholarships. Stetson has enjoyed considerable success in
recent years and we want to have more applicants. Although most possibilities of
awards are in non-English speaking countries, there are still numerous awards to
students for England, Australia, and other English speaking countries. The local
deadline this year is March 1. Have students contact: College of Arts & Sciences—
Dr. Jesse L. Berry; School of Business—Dr. Ted Surynt; and School of Music—Dr.
Michael Rickman. From: Dr. Jesse L. Berry
Special Announcement: All faculty, staff and full-time students. The current
contractual agreement between Stetson University and IBM Corporation which allows
members of the Stetson community to purchase IBM equipment at a 35-40% discount, will
be re-negotiated at the end of this month. By all indications, the discount amounts
on the new contract will be lower; thereby resulting in higher prices. While the
exact percentage discount has yet to be determined, it will probably be in the range
of 25-30%. Anyone planning to purchase IBM equipment through the University would be
well advised to do so before the expiration of the current contract. For more
information, contact Bruce Weller (ext. 544), or John Winchester (ext. 542) at
Academic Computer Services. From: Mr. John Winchester
PLEASE JOIN US ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 20. Cora Mae Mabry is retiring and we are inviting
her friends at Stetson to join us in honoring her on this day from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
in the Edmunds Center. From: Ms. Cecelia Jackson
A memorial service for Fred Cooper will be held at the College Park Baptist Church,

Pope Duncan assisting. In lieu of flowers, send donations to the Florida Sports Hall
of Fame, Post Office Drawer 847, Lake City, Florida 32056.
