ANNOUNCEMENTS
Any faculty member interested in being a tutor of the Florida Consortium-Cambridge
Summer School should contact Richard Ferland, at the International House, ext. 209.
Tutors are responsible for 10-15 students with whom they will meet once or twice a
week during the four-week term (July 10-August 4). They are also responsible for
grading the students' papers. In return, tutors are given round-trip transportatipn,
room and board and $500 for incidental expenses. The latter has been granted through
the generosity of the Provost.

If you are interested in a demonstration of the instructional uses of videodiscs,

The third More-Effective-Writing workshop, entitled "Handling the Paper Load," will be
conducted by Mike Raymond on Tuesday, February 28, 1989, at 4:00 p.m. in room 117
Flagler Hall. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. in the Carlton Union Building. This
"hands-on" workshop will focus on ways to use more writing in courses and to improve
the quality of the writing without being buried by reading and grading. The
Professional Development Committee and the Writing-Across-the-Curriculum Committee
invite your participation even though you might have been unable to attend the first
two workshops. For dinner reservations, please call the Political Science department
office (ext. 349) or write (box 8302) by noon Friday, February 24.

On behalf of the members of the 1989 Winter Term Committee, I thank all members of the
Stetson community who contributed to the success of the 1989 Winter Term. My personal

Dr. Diane Hayes, B.A. Sociology '83, Ph.D., University of Illinois, 1988, will be the
1989 AKD (International Sociology Honor Society) speaker on Wednesday, March 1, in the
John E. Johns Room (315 Elizabeth Hall), at 8:00 p.m. The title of Dr. Hayes' lecture
is "Leisure-Time Activities and Health." All are invited.
Dr. Hayes will also meet with interested social science undergraduates in the
Sociology Department Office (Flagler 204) on March 1 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. to disquss
