The Meaning of Life: The Graduate. Probably none of the decade-defining movies has
attracted more interest than the 60's film The Graduate. The Chapel service this Wednesday
focuses on its themes of disillusionment, escapism, and the search for meaningful action.

The Faculty Senate will meet Monday, March 9, 1992. Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m., Private
Dining Room, Carlton Union Building. The meeting will follow at 6:45 p.m. in the Faculty
Lounge. Anyone wishing to make a reservation for the dinner should call Jane Bradford,
ext. 7175 or 7190, before noon on Monday (cost $4.50).
The agenda for the meeting includes reports by Liz Schumaker, Chair of the Athletics
Committee, and Linda Glover, Dean of Admissions, followed by Senate committee reports.

REMINDER. Sign up for a HOLLIS BOOK FEAST, Thursday, April 9, 4:00 - 6:30 p.m.,
cosponsored by the Hollis Leadership Council and the Women and Genders Studies Committee.
The book for study will be Women's Ways of Knowing by Belenky, Clinchy, Goldberger, and
Tarule. The discussion will focus on teaching and learning styles, with specific
reference to gender concerns. Women's Ways of Knowing is based on in-depth interviews with
135 women and encourages thought about the aims of education for both women and men.
Participants receive a free book and dinner and a lively discussion, if they make a good
faith commitment to read the book in advance. Book Feast participation is limited to 30
faculty and students. Deadline for sign-up is Wednesday, March 11. Call ext. 7720. Your
