REMINDER: Faculty and staff are invited to offer nominations for the 1990 Algernon
Sydney Sullivan Awards. These awards are given annually to the man and the woman in
the May graduating class "whose personal example and influence throughout the campus
community best exemplifies the finest spiritual qualities of humanity and high
character." This prestigious award generally is considered the highest recognition to
the graduating senior and is given at many universities nationally jointly by the
institution and the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation in New York. A committee
including faculty appointed by the Faculty Senate will review all nominations and
determine the awards recipients. Nominations should be forwarded to Dean E. Garth
Jenkins at Campus Box 8357 NOT LATER THAN MONDAY, APRIL 23. From: Dean Garth Jenkins
The Forensics Team invites all faculty and staff to its Annual Command Performance,
Tuesday, April 24, at 8:00 p.m. in Allen Hall. Team members will present a selection
of competition events to the Stetson community. Scheduled events include:
Persuasive, Informative, and After Dinner Speaking; Prose, Poetry, and Duo
Interpretation; and Extemporaneous and Impromptu Speaking. Many of the events that
will be presented are being prepared for the National Tournament, April 26-30.

The Stetson Jazz Ensemble is sponsoring a two-day residency by nationally renowned
saxophonist, Jack Wilkins, on Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28. Jack Wilkins
is the Director of Jazz Studies and Saxophone Instructor at the Oberlin Conservatory
of Music in Oberlin, Ohio. While on campus, Mr. Wilkins will be working with Stetson
students in the areas of jazz improvisation, ensemble playing, and saxophone
techniques. On Saturday night, he will be the featured soloist with the Stetson Jazz
Ensemble in a concert at the Edmunds Center. From: David Schmidt, School of Music
The Hollis Leadership Development Program Council is seeking a faculty member
interested in teaching the LDP 376 course "Community Internship" in the spring of '91.
This is a pass/fail experience with local non-profit and government agencies. The
course description has been previously circulated and approved unanimously by faculty
vote. Knowledge of local agencies and discussions with your Dean are helpful. For

The Hollis Leadership Development Program Council is seeking two cash-labor students
to. assist the program coordinator. One undergraduate and one graduate assistant is
needed beginning as early as this summer and through next year. Refer students
