ANNOUNCEMENTS
The university Concert Choir will present its spring concert in Elizabeth Hall at 8:00
p.m. on April 21. The program will include Requiem by Durufle, three compositions by
Charles Ives and a group of spirituals. This will be Bob Rich's last appearance with
the choir as its director, since he will resume full-time voice teaching in the fall,
while continuing to conduct a select chamber choir. A reception honoring Bob Rich
will be held in the University Faculty Lounge following the concert. The University
community is urged to attend, enjoy the concert and reception, and convey to Bob its

THE SPRING BLOOD DRIVE will be conducted by the Red Cross on Thursday, April 20, and
Friday, April 21. You may be reading this too late for the Thursday date but please
try to support the Blood Drive by donating blood today, Friday, April 21, 11:00 a.m.-
5:00 p.m. Please encourage your students and colleagues to give blood.

STETSON UNIVERSITY "TOWN MEETING," 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 24, 1989. Guest Speaker:
Mr. Jess C. Ball, CEO, Sterling Acquisition, Corporation. Moderator: Dr. Jackson C.
Stevens. Mr. Jess C. Ball will open the meeting and provide background information on
corporation acquisitions and turnarounds. He will also provide his views on the
rights and responsibilities of company owners and managers.
Mr. Ball is an Engineer, and a 22-year veteran of General Electric. He is former CEO
of Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company. He is presently employed with Sterling
Acquisition, Corp., a company that seeks industrial acquisitons. Sterling is
recognized for increasing the productivity of their acquisitions by improving
management practices.
Following the discussion, Dr. Stevens will moderate a panel discussion addressing the
issues and questions regarding the Eastern Airlines Case. The panel will consist of:
Eastern Manager, TBA; Union representative, Mr. Mike Moffett, ALPA; Union
representative, Mr. Jim Rene, IAM; Union representative, Ms. Carol Harlin, TWU; non-
contract agent, Mr. Joe Szirotnyak.
Open and frank discussion of all perspectives can lead to greater understanding

RETIREMENT SEMINARS: Brad Thompson, representing the Annuity Board of the Southern
Baptist Convention, will be available to discuss the Annuity Board's Plan and answer
any questions that you might have. The seminar is scheduled for April 26 at 4:00 p.m.
in the Stetson Room of the Carlton Union Building.
Sandra Morelli, TIAA, will be conducting a retirement seminar on Wednesday, April 26,
at 6:30 p.m. in the Stetson Room of the Carlton Union Building. She will answer any
of your questions and discuss the different aspects of the TIAA plan.
