Unlike most diseases, AIDS affects not only the bodies of patients, but also the
thoughts, actions, and experiences of our entire society. Scientists predict that
within a very short time, each of us will know someone who has AIDS. This week we
will have a chance to hear from two nationally prominent experts who work on the
psycho-social aspects of the AIDS crisis in New York, one of the cities where it first
reached epidemic proportions. Jeff Natter is an AIDS educator for the National
Hemophilia Foundation; David Wertheimer is an anti-violence worker and a New York City
Commissioner of Human Rights. They will present the following programs:
"AIDS: The Social Epidemic." A joint discussion of the impact of AIDS on American
society. Monday, January 30, 8:00 p.m. in the Elizabeth Hall auditorium.
AIDS Forum." An introduction, by Jeff Natter, to the medical aspects of the disease.
Tuesday, January 31, 3:00 p.m., in the John E. Johns Room, third floor of Elizabeth
Hall.
Both events are free and open to the public. From: Dr. Ann Jerome Croce
HUMANA HMO PARTICIPANTS: There will be an informative meeting for all participants on
Tuesday, January 31, 10:00 a.m., rooms 204/205 of the Carlton Union Building. Spouses
are also invited. Bill Capehart will answer any questions you may have and will
review procedures, such as referrals, etc. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
