The Humanities Critical Theory group meets at 3:00 p.a. today Friday, February 23.
Topic: selections by Adorno and Benjamin in Adams and Searle, Critical Theory since

February's Collegial Seminar, sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, gives us
the rare opportunity to hear a leading contemporary Soviet composer discuss "Works in
Progress." Alexander Raskatov, composer in residence in the School of Music for the
spring semester and member of the Union of Soviet Composers, will talk about his
recent compositions with sound illustrations on Monday, February 26, at noon in the
Private Dining Room. Bring your lunch; dessert and coffee provided by the dean of the
college. Sasha's works were included in a Public Radio review of current outstanding

There will be a Workshop sponsored by the Professional Development Committee on
Tuesday, February 27, from 4:00 - 6:30 p.a. in the Private Dining Room of the Carlton
Union Building. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. following the presentation by John
Pearson and Tom Farrell on the subject of "Cultural Diversity and Liberal Education."
Topics to be covered include the ways that diversity of student body, pedagogy, and
cultural background have challenged established practices, what it means to reflect
cultural diversity in any curriculum, and new ideas on pedagogy and ways to accomplish
the curricular and educational goals we have set for ourselves. Make a reservation no

THE HOMECOMING CHAPEL SERVICE—to be held on Sunday, February 25, at 9:00 a.a. in the
Elizabeth Hall Chapel—will be dedicated to the memory of Ray V. Sowers (1893-1980).
Dr. Sowers was Director of Teacher Education for many years and a former dean of the
College of Liberal Arts. Brief presentations will be made by Pope Duncan, Lafayette
Walker, George Hood, Don Gill, Margaret Horton, and Richard Morland. Former students
of Dr. Sowers and all members of the Stetson community are especially invited to

Dean Maris has information in his office concerning a seminar on Berlin to be held in
West Berlin on July 23-30, 1990. This is especially applicable for professors of
German, History, Sociology^ Political Science, Law and related disciplines. The
