ANNOUNCEMENTS
The President's staff approved the attached Policy on Smoking (see page 5) on Monday,
February 22, 1988. From: President Doug Lee
ALL EMPLOYMENT SUPERVISORS: This is an urgent reminder that no person can be allowed
to begin work for the University without proper budgetary and Personnel Office
clearance. Federal statutes, relative to immigration status, must be respected.
Supervisors have been given explanations previously; further deviation cannot be
permitted. THIS INCLUDES ALL STUDENT EMPLOYEES AS WELL. From: Mr. Graves Edmondson
SPECIAL CONCERN REGARDING RENTAL AUTOMOBILE CONTRACTS: Any travelers for the
University should renew their familiarity with University policy statements relating
to the rental of vehicles. Three basic points are primary:
1. The rental contract must be in the name of Stetson University to avoid the
individual being personally responsible for damage claims. (This is contract
law, not University policy).
2. The complexities of the individual renting company's contracts and insurance law
dictate University policy to be that the individual renter (on behalf of the
University) accepts, i.e. buys and pays for, insurance coverage offered by the
rental agency).
3. As needed for occasional individual trips, secure in advance a University car
rental credit card for your single trip use.
These arrangements represent no change in University procedure. They are
repeated at the suggestion of the University's independent insurance consultant of
widespread claims difficulties elsewhere. From: Mr. Graves Edmondson
REMINDER: There will be a second Social Science Division meeting at 10:00 a.m. on
Monday, February 29, in Room 204 Flagler Hall. We will continue the discussion of
Division priorities for new positions. From: Dr. Richard Kindred, Division Secretary,
