5. Special advising services, which can
be distinguished from services available to all students, should be provided to subgroups of students who
have special advising needs (e.g.,
adults, transfer, underprepared,
athletes, under-represented,
undeclared, etc.).
6. There should be more coordination and
cooperation between academic advising
and student support services.
7. More adviser training activities
are needed on our campus.
8. Part of the evaluation of academic
advising should be evaluation of
individual advisers by the advisees.
9. Effective as an adviser should be a
consideration in promotion, tenure,
and merit pay increase.
10. Academic advising could be improved
at our institution if there were
stronger administrative support and
leadership for advising.
11. Advising should be coordinated by
the Provost's Office.
