ANNOUNCEMENTS
There will be a reception in honor of Dr. Peter Guenther and Dr. Siegfried Hauser, on
Monday, March 6, 4:00 p.m., in the Faculty Lounge of the Carlton Union Building. Dr.
Guenther is visiting the University within the framework of our Winter exchange with
the Paedagogische Hochschule in Freiburg, and Dr. Hauser is visiting the Business
School.
Dr. Hauser is on the faculty of the University of Freiburg, and his main area of
expertise is in statistics and international trade.
Dr. Guenther is in the field of English and American Studies, and at the moment he
occupies the position of Pro-Rektor of the PH, a position somewhat like provost or
vice-president. Both visitors will be on our campus for about three weeks. This
reception will give everyone a chance to meet them and learn more about our program in
Freiburg and our future plans. If anyone has a special request for a meeting or a
class visit from one of these colleagues, please contact Dr. Jesse L. Berry or Dr.

Dr. Gary Ihas, Professor of Physics, University of Florida, will present a public talk
sponsored by the Society of Physics Students (SPS) on Wednesday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m.
in Room 213 Sage Hall. The title of the talk is "Absolute Zero: Can We Get There
from Here?" Dr. Ihas is affiliated with the new MicroKelvin Laboratory at the
University of Florida, a facility that when completed, will be one of the coldest
spots in the universe, a frigid millionth of a degree above absolute zero. Dr. Ihas
received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan and specializes In the area

CORRECTION: Joan P. Church has not withdrawn from the University. She is very much
present in her classes during this Spring Semester. The information received in this
office recently about her withdrawal was for the Winter Term. Professors please get
